Michael & Sarah's Dominican Destination Wedding

One of my absolute favourite places in the whole world is the Colonial Zone (also known as Zona Colonial), in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  

It just happens to be where Michael and Sarah chose to exchange their love for each other, with the most important people in the world.  Having met in Santo Domingo, it was only fitting that these two tied the Knot in Santo Domingo, and what better place to choose then Lulu in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo.  The heart of this amazing old colonial city in the Dominican Republic, dating back to the 1400's when Christopher Columbus landed in Santo Domingo, in 1492 and claimed the island for the Spanish Crown!

We are so blessed to have been able to capture this special once in a lifetime day with Michael, Sarah and their families at their destination wedding.  We have known Michael and Sarah for a few years having met in Calgary, Alberta, through mutual Dominican friends and all very quickly became acquaintances, then friends, then family!  It was truly an honour to share this day with them and have them chose us as their wedding photographers.  

The day started out at Hotel Billini, a super cute little boutique hotel in the Colonial Zone which is where the Most Amazing First Look took place!!! #firstlook... And then we carried on to Lulu Tasting Bar for the ceremony and reception.

This day truly went off without a hitch, it couldn't have been more perfect.  The weather was great, the sky was blue, the sun was out and it was the most romantic ceremony Ever!  Don't even get me started on the Reception.... one of the best parties we have been to in a long time.  The Dominicans, mixed with a bit of Canadian and American Flare DEFINITELY know how to Party!  

One thing that is very common in the Dominican Republic is the Crazy Hour (also known as la hora loca) this is where around 12 midnight, something fun and crazy happens, the guests do not expect it and it is usually a surprise for everyone but those that planned it!  La hora loca consists of trained dancers crashing the wedding reception and making what was already an awesome night... More Awesome! Thanks to the VIP Show Producciones for the Entertainment!

This was legit a fairytale wedding and Sarah was the most beautiful princess bride!  Michael also cleans up well too!  We had the most amazing day with these two and their families and we cannot wait to see what life has in store for them.
